G.H. 1.2

This week has been pretty frustrating, I'm not going to lie. I have made some progress on the violin, such as fine tuning my notes and scales, but when I go to play a simple song, such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and other basic songs like that, they never sound the way I would like them to. I just have to keep reminding  myself that this is all a part of the learning process.
I have narrowed down my music that I would like to learn down to three options: " Hedwig's theme" from Harry Potter, "Thousand Years"  by Christina Perry, and the theme song from Up. So far I am still a little ahead of schedule, so if I remain ahead of schedule I might just do all three. I'm hoping that I will get a better feel for the violin this week and not sound so scratchy! As frustrated as I get with the violin, I am enjoying to learn it again, and I think I have made some progress with it.
Here is a picture of the book I am using to teach myself again. It is really helpful and explains what symbols in the music mean. They also have some great exercises I use to strengthen my wrist and bowing strategies.

  1. People who play violin have always fascinated me because it seems like such a difficult instrument to learn. The sound of a violin is so beautiful, but I can imagine it takes lots of time and practice to even get the sound you're looking for, let alone mastering whole pieces of music. Props to you for staying ahead of schedule, and good luck with your learning!

  2. Learning how to play an instrument is very difficult, especially the violin. I bet that it takes a lot of practice and patience. Is it any easier to learn, since you already know how to play the piano and read music?

    1. It is a little easier, because reading music is a huge part of it. the piano doesn't help much because it is so different from the violin. On the piano you just have to press a key, while on the violin you have to move your fingers around to get the right notes. But knowing how to play an instrument before violin helped a ton.
